China has a rapidly aging population which is straining their economy.  In America 15 years ago we had 17 workers for each social security recipient.  The ratio is now 3 to 1.

Changing demographics is under reported.  Please read Mark Steyn's book, America Alone.  Due to social policies and changing family values most societies are sub-replacement birth rates.  USA is stable at 2.1 to 1 female.  Most of Europe is at 1.0 or lower.  Which means their immigration policy (France has large Muslim poplulation that grows at 5 to 1) can dramatically effect the composition of a traditional society.
